The website for the movie Bright Young Things (based on Evelyn Waugh’s Vile Bodies, directed by Stephen Fry) has a neat thing called the “Splendidiser” (Flash required). Just type in a phrase or URL to make you sound more jolly well splendid. Try it out. The results can be slightly different each time. I put in my own website, and it’s kind of funny that sometimes it’s hard to tell which is my own writing and which is part of the splendidisation, with some sentences collapsing under the weight of their playful encrusted adornments: “Rather! Utterly on the beastly contrary, oh, the frightfully horrid searing burden of knowledge. Good God, old chap, now let me go gouge my eyes out. Darling, kidding, isn’t it too divine?! But still, grr!”
Spiffing, I tell you! (Link via Skunkeye.)
One reply on “Spiffing!”
I am beside myself with joy — this Splendidiser is frightfully wonderful!
