On Saturday night we saw Little Miss Sunshine at the Balboa Theatre. Other than very basic information about the characters, I didn’t know much about the movie going in, and so it was kind of nice to be carried along by the story. Basically it’s about a dysfunctional family on a road trip to California, where the seven-year-old daughter is to compete in a beauty pageant called Little Miss Sunshine. Everything that could go wrong, of course, goes wrong. I laughed, I (almost) cried. It’s really well written and well acted (with a good soundtrack too), and I highly recommend it.

Jenny and I went to see the movie in Minneapolis, MN – and when the horn was stuck on the VW I died laughing. As far as the long wait for “Little Miss Sunshine” Mae West says it best, “He who hesitates is a damned fool.” This is a real money maker. Usually independent films do not hit Eau Claire, WI or Kasota, MN – unless they do well. To say the least it is in Kasota, MN. I love the movie, although all the characters had a deep definition – except Toni C, who played this overly stereotypical role.

Glad you and Thom enjoyed it. A friend and I saw the movie a week ago and we both loved it too. I nearly fell out of my seat when the little girl did her on-stage moves — she’s definitely a better dancer than I am 🙂
